Job Title: Senior Design Engineer
Reporting to: Director of Engineering
Location: Bordon, Hampshire, UK
Qualifications:
Good relevant degree or HND required.
Background:
A minimum of 5 years experience in the design and manufacture of switch-mode power supplies with strong design experience and understanding of leading-edge power conversion techniques, ideally with applications in aerospace and knowledge of the associated design standards.
Capabilities / Responsibilities:
Ideally, the candidate will be experienced in:
- Resonant conversion
- Planar magnetics
- Power factor correction
- Synchronous rectification
- Control loop design inc. average current mode
- EMC filter design
- Digital circuits for BITE, communications and control
- PCB layout design
- Experience of formal EMC & environmental qualification testing
- Knowledge of the safety compliance requirements for CE marking
- Stress analysis and reliability calculation
- Generation of test plans and design reports
- Generation of technical data packs and attendance of design reviews
- Proficient in circuit simulation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, word, excel, power point
- Some experience of Zuken (Cadstar) PCB design and Solidworks 3D modelling would be helpful
- Specification of special type test equipment (STTE)
Additional Notes:
Strong experience and understanding of leading-edge power conversion techniques preferred. A positive can-do attitude with a commitment to technical excellence and to meeting demanding timescales. A flexible attitude and willingness to "pull out the stops" when necessary to meet targets is required.
