New Seica 'Flying Probe' Test System for Manufacturing Floor

Installation of the Seica Pilot VIP flying probe test system has been completed and we are now using for in-circuit testing of completed PCB assemblies.

The Seica test system has the unique ability to hit test pads as small as 0.010 and less, hit SMT leads. and use unmasked via’s as test points. The system will test for component values for inductance, capacitance, resistance, shorts and opens, and presence and absence

“The flying probe gives us the unique ability to test both surface mount, and conventional components on finished PCB assemblies before they reach the ‘power-up’ stage” says Julian Wood, MD of Celab. “This helps us find any problems quickly and easily without the need to involve a skilled test technician. It also prevents us causing any further damage to the assembly that may arise after power-up. The Flying probe is a very important addition to our test department as it is particularly well suited for our customer base, where all of their applications are high-reliability, high-density boards, in low to medium volumes.”
